Engineer: Michael Fuller

Grammy Award winning Mastering engineer, Michael Fuller, started his career in 1975 at the early age of 18, in Cincinnati, Ohio for QCA Recording. His first job was quality control for the vinyl pressing division. Soon thereafter, Michael was trained in the areas of mixing and vinyl mastering. In 1978, Michael was hired by Criteria Recording Studios here in Miami, for his mastering abilities. The first hit record he mastered came by way of legendary rock producer, Tom Dowd. The artist was Rod Stewart and the hit song was “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy.” From there, many doors opened and many hit records followed. He mastered projects for such artists as The Bee Gees, John Cougar, Julio Iglesias, and The Eagles. In 1986 Michael founded Fullersound and continued to keep the business at Criteria Studios until relocating to Miami Lakes in Feburary of 1999.  In September of 2009, he opened the doors to his new mastering studio in Davie Florida designed by John Arthur.

In the past forty plus years, Michael has mastered many different genres of music for clients throughout the world. From disco to freestyle, he has mastered hits for KC & The Sunshine Band, Foxy, Trinere, Debbie Deb and Exposé. Michael’s experience in rock includes such classic heavyweights as Eric Clapton, Judas Priest, The Romantics, Eddie Money, and The Allman Brothers, and the modern sounds of Nonpoint, Yngwie Malmsteen, Skindred, Bury Your Dead, and Day of Fire. Within the Latin market, Michael has made a name for himself, working with such world famous artists as Julio Iglesias, Celia Cruz, Ricardo Montaner, Bacilos, Kany Garcia, Olga Tañon and Natalia Lafourcade. Michael also played a pivotal role in the birth of ‘Miami Bass’, as he mastered and cut vinyl for the likes of The 2 Live Crew, MC Shy D, Gucci Crew II, DJ Magic Mike, Dynamix II, Poison Clan and 95 South. These credits have given way to more recent projects for hip-hop, reggae and reggaeton artists such as Rick Ross, Young Dro, Morgan Heritage, Timbaland, Stephen & Damian Marley, Vico C, Don Omar, Ozuna, Maluma, Nicky Jam and Daddy Yankee & Farruko. And then, there are those classics that are truly hard to categorize: “Atomic Dog,” by George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, “The Electric Slide,” by Marcia Griffiths, “Islands In The Stream,” by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, and the soundtrack to the original motion picture “Dirty Dancing.”

After many Gold and Platinum records, and Grammy award-winning projects, Michael continues to be on the cutting edge of mastering.
